HOUSE is an evocative new solo exhibition by Newcastle-based artist Louise Carter. Blending ceramic sculpture and oil painting, HOUSE invites viewers to reconsider one of Australia’s most deeply held beliefs: that owning a home is the ultimate marker of success, stability, and identity. Through a series of ceramic sculptures and atmospheric paintings, Louise explores the cultural promise of homeownership—and the quiet costs that can accompany it.

The title of the exhibition ‘I am Here’ relates to the ‘sense of self’ as an artist and as an individual. It is where the artist is now in their artmaking practice without the sometimes-restrictive constraints of working to a given theme.

An exhibition of ceramics and artworks that incorporate crushed rock from Broken Hill

Ceramic artist Heather Campbell’s whimsical sculptures of people and animals sit well within the local Hunter scenery painted by artist Debra Ansell.

Two long-standing institutions, Newcastle Printmakers Workshop and Newcastle Studio Potters Inc, have combined their talents to exhibit works in synergy. Working in pairs, these artists have collaborated to produce works that interact, harmonize and connect.
